Harrison Hot Springs BC

Harrison Hot Springs is basically the perfect summer getaway spot. It’s a beautiful beach town on the lakeshore of Harrison Lake. It’s only just over an hour’s drive from Vancouver but you’d never know you’re so close to the city, cuz you are nestled into the mountains. The views are beautiful – the people are nice- and best of all they have a very large dog friendly beach. Which for someone like me is basically perfect.

The town is awesome- the selection of food and activities is pretty decent considering the town being as small as it is. You can see in my photo slideshow at the bottom the view of the lake and the town, well that is most of it. You gotta drive at least 20 minutes for a Tim Hortons but you have multiple coffee shops and restaurants you can sit at along the shoreline with beautiful lake views. Most of them sporting patios where your dog can join you. You can see from the photo that Nova did a great job waiting patiently as I enjoy lunch at a local spot. She was probably people watching, or bird watching, since there are always tons of birds! She was very well behaved. She is always is though! Not like my Frank, who can be a bit of a brat. I’m biased though I blame the maleness in him.

Harrison Hot Springs Town View

The town is picturesque- the food selection is awesome- you can shop till you drop with a variety of stores, even a few antique and used stores. One of the main attractions though is their inflatable waterpark park and the water activities on the lake.

The Inflatable Water Park and Water Activities

The inflatable water park is a big attraction. All of their water activities are! The inflatable park is a workout and you want to go on a warm day otherwise the water can be a bit cold. Still it is hours and hours of fun for the kiddies and adults alike. Climbing, diving, and sliding. They also have bumper boats, motor powered mini 1 person, tube sized “boats” that you can chase each other around in. Some of them have the option of squirting water. In addition they also rent out sea-dos and paddleboats. They got it all so even if want to just take a day trip or spend a week or two on vacation, you’ll never get bored.

The place is really lovely and beautiful and finding a place to stay either in Harrison or close by shouldn’t be much of a problem if you book early. While I don’t know of camping in Harrison Hot Springs, there is camping in Hicks Lake, about a 15 minute drive. We tend to stay at Bungalow Motel, a small motel with tiny cabins basically behind the dog beach. The cabins are dog friendly and so the last few years family and I gather there. We meet relatives from BC who are also dog lovers. We are often outnumbered by the dogs, but they love it just as much as any of us.
