Hermitage off leash dog park in Edmonton is a really awesome spot to take your dogs for a off leash run. Right now the park is luscious, green, and oh so hot! One of the benefits is that it runs along the river so your dog can enjoy a nice swim or grab a drink. I went the other day and took photos in late July, and the water level was decent. There was a bit of a shore line so as an owner we don’t have to feel so uncomfortable with our dogs getting to close to a high, fast moving river.
I go as often as I can when it starts to get nice out, and I find that the river can be to high a lot of the time. Fortunately it seems summer is the best time. It was the perfect height for my lab, Nova, to jump in. Even Frank and Iris were able to get soaked. Iris jumped right in which said it all- she was hot!
Even when its really hot there is plenty of grass to walk on beside the pavement. The path at the Hermitage off leash dog park in edmonton is pretty wide as well and so there is always lots of room. The extra grass space makes it best for the dogs to walk on, easily able to avoid the hot pavement. Edmonton may be a cold city the majority of the year, however, summers still get pretty hot. Especially lately and thats the nice thing about Hermitage.
One of the downsides is that the path is quite open and there are few shaded spots. However for a female like me I find that comforting. The park is so wide and open most of the way that you don’t feel like you can be caught off guard. Even though I walk with my 3 dogs that is still a concern. Another great thing is that i’ve never encountered an unfriendly dog or owner there. Even with Nova sometimes being a bit shy around the larger dogs, i’ve yet to have a bad experience there. Its always been a good time for my dogs and I love it because we often don’t take a really long walk. We walk right around the duck pond typically and then head back. However, there is the option to go further, and much more to explore if your up for it.
So if your looking for dog parks, definitely check out Hermitage Off leash dog park in Edmonton. Check out my photos from a recent visit that Nova, my black lab, Iris, the lighter pug mix, & Frank, my darker pug mix, took to the park. You’ll see its a beautiful place to visit even if you don’t have a dog. You’ll have a great time and get to witness the beauty of nature that Edmonton, AB, has to offer.
